Working Together for God's Kingdom

Greetings and salutations from Minnesota!

We thought that it would be a good idea if we were to introduce ourselves in this newsletter, tell you a little bit about ourselves, and just give you a little opportunity to get to know something about us before we pack up and head out West.

I am your recently called, but not yet started, new pastor, Daniel (Dan) Forsgren. My lovely wife, Sarah, and I have been married for 12 years, and we have three children: Donny (10), Karis (6), and William (4.8). They like to keep us busy and always seem to have an endless supply of energy.

Donny is currently in fifth grade and loves learning, reading, and science. He has a great imagination, loves to ride his bicycle, and has a long-term goal of being a paleontologist, digging up new fossils in Mongolia. Any information for fossil hunting around Coeur d’Alene would be most appreciated.

Karis is our kindergartener. She is a little lady who enjoys being daddy’s little girl. She likes princesses, books, being outside, running, and taking care of everyone in the house. When Karis sets her mind to something she is not easily turned off course.

William is our preschooler who will turn five in November. He loves to play, cuddle, ride his bike, be read to, vacuum floors, and generally derives great pleasure from trying to get under his brother’s skin.

Sarah grew up a pastor’s child in southern Minnesota. She has a degree in Elementary Education, but is looking to go back to graduate school. She is my best friend, a wonderful mother, a kind spirit and soul. Sarah has been a source of strength and inspiration for me. She truly is a remarkable woman, and I am a very lucky man.

I have lived my entire life, up until this point, in Minnesota. I came into the ministry a little later in my life. My first “career” was in retail hardware. I spent about 16 years working hardware, 13 of them at one store, which I managed for about eight of those years. I enjoy fishing, reading, walking, being outside. I love being a husband and father, and enjoy just being with my family.

We are looking forward to moving to Coeur d’Alene and becoming a part of the community out there. It is an exciting time as we think about new experiences and new places. It is an anxious time, as we are moving 1400 miles away from most of our family.

I am looking forward to sharing with you in ministry. I am excited about the possibilities and the potential we have for together “being the church” in Coeur d’Alene and what that means for everyone. I hope and pray that our time in Coeur d’Alene will be fruitful and will enrich the ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church. I look forward to meeting the church community and getting to know everyone. May we approach the upcoming years, working together for God’s kingdom, with a sense of childlike wonder, sharing the joy of our salvation in Christ both within the walls of Trinity Lutheran and outside of them.

Looking forward to sharing in ministry,

Pastor Dan Forsgren
